Opioid addiction

Opioids are a class of drugs that are used to treat moderate to severe pain. Opioids can include prescription drugs, synthetically-produced drugs such as fentanyl, and illegal drugs such as heroin. With opioid addiction, the body becomes dependent on the drug while also developing a tolerance. Eventually, the body will need higher and higher dosages to feel the pain-blocking and euphoric sensations the drugs provide. Opioid addiction can often cause other mental health issues such as depression and anxiety.

Symptoms of opioid withdrawal can include:

  • Nausea and/or diarrhea
  • Irritability
  • Sweating
  • Agitation
  • Abdominal cramping
  • Muscle aches
Stopping opioid use incorrectly can be dangerous, and should be done under professional supervision. The treatment we provide for opioid abuse will depend on several factors including duration of addiction, family history, other medications being taken, and more. Treatment options include medically-assisted treatment, counseling, and support groups.

Illicit drug addiction

Illicit drugs, or narcotics, can include any drugs that are illegal to have, as well as medical drugs used for non-medical purposes. Illicit drugs can include cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamines, heroin, ketamine, hydrocodone, codeine, and more.

Symptoms of narcotic/illicit drug withdrawal can include:

  • Insomnia
  • Irritability
  • Stomach upset
  • Hallucinations
  • Mood swings
  • Paranoia
  • Tremors

The treatment we provide for illicit drug addiction will depend on many personal factors, and may include a combination of any of the following: medication-assisted treatment, behavioral therapy, medical detoxification, 12-step program involvement, and alternative therapies. It can be dangerous to attempt to treat illicit drug addiction on your own, and it’s strongly recommended that you begin your addiction treatment under professional supervision.

Prevail Addiction Recovery Center homes are designed to foster a community of supported sobriety, removing the stigma and shame of dependence on drugs.

We take a multifaceted approach to helping someone become and stay sober. Your treatment will depend on many factors including duration of use, medical history, or other personal needs.

The treatment we provide may include residential rehabilitation, medication-assisted treatment, cognitive behavioral therapy, 12-step programs, alternative therapies, group counseling, and more.
